 "Sanibel"
Multi BIS Braz. Ch., Gr. Ch., Pan-Am. Ch., Int. Ch., Am. & Can. Ch.
Surrey Hill´s Sanibel Sand

(Drake - Am. Ch. Chelsea Drakkar of Oxford, F.Ch. x Carmen)

Relentlessly-cheerful Sanibel has never had a bad day in her life! Thanks to her, I have a good friend in Brazil, and we have both thoroughly enjoyed her showing and breeding career. She is a US and Canadian group-winner, and won three Best in Shows in Brazil during a short campaign. Sanibel was quite a good little lure courser back in the day, and loved racing so much that many of my friends who volunteered to help me box or catch her have the scars to prove it. She's still as enthusiastic and determined as ever, but as she is over 10 now, we felt it would be best to retire her from everything but the occasional dog show. Also, I was running out of "volunteers". You can see many photos of her children and grandchildren at the Silkrock Whippets website, or elsewhere on this site. Her best daughters, save one, are all in Brazil, but she has three American champion sons and champion grandchildren here, as well.
Sanibel now resides in happy retirement with my mother and father in DeLand, FL and enjoys helping my mother give her programs on conformation to area dog clubs.  She still has never had a bad day in her life.

"EnglishMabel"
Bluestreak Belle Du Jour F.Ch. OTR CR TRP
(Eng.Ch. Barmoll Beaujaulais at Teisenlap x Bluestreak Belle Epoque (C.C. winner)

English Mabel is my long-awaited bitch from Cathie Brown's much-admired Bluestreak Kennel of English Whippets. Mabel offers beautiful English lines which are quite different from all other English imports to date, so she represents a good shot at injecting a little splash of outcrossed vigor. She is a glorious rich blue fawn with a gleaming satin coat, and a very enthusiastic runner. Though her pigment would keep her from finishing a title here, she was very successful in giving me a fine litter of 8, of which most were more than dark enough in eye and nose color to do well here. English Mabel is a dear girl and a wonderful house dog, with a great deal of personality and character. Even if we weren't keen to breed her again, which we are, we would still feel our English acquisition was well worth it, as she rapidly became our favorite sofa and bed dog.
Our dear Mabel had a rare show ring outing at the CWA Annual Match, where she placed BOS Adult over champion and major-pointed competition. WOW! I'd forgotten how much she enjoys dog shows!

"Pivoine"
Ch. Diablesse Surrey Hill Say Yaha TRP DPC CR OTRM
(Dual Ch. Paris Say You Will LCM ROM* x Spiral)

"Pivoine" or "Pea" for the benefit of the non-French speakers, is our strong and beautiful flagship brood bitch. She started her show career with a bang, winning a class of over 40 entries at the AWC National. She went on to finish mostly owner-handled, and put up some nice finishes in racing, particularly on the oval track. Pivoine is co-owned with Leila Anchini-Downen of Diablesse Kennel. Her beautiful puppies by Aust.Am.Ch. Byerley Savile Row and Ch. Chelsea Chalcedony have already been making their mark in the ring, in the field, and on the track.  With her first litter just turned three years old, she has already produced the following:

Three AWC Futurity Class winners
Three AKC Bench Champions
Three winners of AWC Supported Entry majors in her first litter
Three ASFA F.Ch.'s
One multi-obedience and agility titled bitch

In addition, she has three more puppies who are over halfway to their bench titles from her first two litters, and a third which has won BOB over specials from the classes and will begin her serious campaign this winter, plus additional ARX and AKC FC major-pointed offspring.

Her third litter, a small frozen-semen effort sired by Ch. Chelsea Drakkar of Oxford, can be seen on our Puppies page. We are very proud of Pivoine and her children.

"Tabitha"
Surrey Hill Casting the Runes F.Ch. OTRM TRP DPC
(Barkley x English Mabel)

Tabitha is my keeper puppy from Mabel's first litter. I was hoping for a promising bitch to show and run, and so far, I couldn't be more pleased. She already has a major and is a solid B/C racer in CWA and in 2006, she earned her CWA Dual-Purpose Championship via wins earned in the CWA Meet Match system.
Tabitha has dry, elegant lines and a very complex and interesting personality of high intelligence.  She is currently one of my first-string lure coursing dogs, and will be making more show appearances in summer of 2007.  Check out her most recent accomplishments in the News page of this website.

"Sadly, Tabitha's competitive career has come to an end due to a collision at a racing event which left her paralyzed. With surgical care and time and physical therapy, she is making great progress and is walking well on her own and we hope she will eventually be able to have puppies, but a return to the show ring is unlikely and a return to racing or coursing is forbidden.  Many thanks to all her fans and friends for their kindness to Tabitha and to me during her injury and recovery."

"Maura"
Am. Can. Ch. Surrey Hill's Glenmorangie OTR TRP DPC
(Pungo x Lydia)

Our petite, sparkling, red and white  "Maura" is a multipurpose talent who will be a big part of our bloodline's future, but for now, she is too busy having fun competing to be tied down with puppies - check the news section to read her latest accomplishments in ring, track, and field.  She is as fast and game as she is beautiful.
Maura will be bred in 2008.
==>> M
aura is booked to the very handsome young Bo-Bett's Quigley Down Under (Int. Ch. Statuesque Extortion x Ch. Bo-Bett's Pursuit of Happiness), who was most recently BOW at the AWC Midwest Specialty.  The breeding will take place this winter.  Advance reservations are strongly suggested for this litter.

"Bonzer"
Ch. Surrey Hill's Galafrey F.Ch. OTR CR ARX
(Aust. & Am.Ch. Byerley Savile Row x "Pivoine")

"Bonzer" is our keeper puppy from the Pea/Savile Row litter.  At two years of age, he has already attained his bench championship, ASFA Field Championship, CWA ARX/DPCX racing championships, and is minor titled in WRA and NOTRA.  Bonzer is a sweet, goofy boy at home, but a focused competitor who gives 200% effort in all that we do. I wanted an all-around competitor from his litter, and I definitely found that dog in Bonzer.  Anyone who has heard his full-throated yell behind the box or at the line  will know why I call him "The Thunder From Down Under".  Please also see the news page

"Jewel"
Surrey Hill's Ripon Jewel
(Pungo x English Mabel)
Jewel has come back to Surrey Hill to live with us, and we couldn't be happier.  She won a 2nd place in her first ASFA trial and we look forward to completing her running titles this year.  She's a lovely girl and a joy to live with.  She will also be shown on a limited basis.    Jewel is co-owned with Kristen Fredericks.
==>> Flash: Jewel finishes her ASFA F.Ch. in three weekends out with our friend, Ian Davies! Thank you very much, Ian and Carlee, for hosting Jewel while she ran for her F.Ch. title!  Jewel also has a Top 10 in CWA racing.
==>> Flash: Jewel goes BOB at the JRRWA Specialty field trial, topping a field of 17 F.Ch. stake entries! In three trials as a F.Ch. she has 100 points towards her LCM and two firsts!
